Stop Erosion At the Source
The Product
Sobek provides research-backed stormwater detention/retention basin retrofits, proven to reduce erosion and nutrient pollution, to restore stream environments while protecting infrastructure.
Our Mission
Sobek’s mission is to restore and protect waterways by addressing erosion where it begins. Through thoughtful design and research-driven engineering, we reduce sediment and nutrient pollution while supporting healthier, more resilient landscapes.
We believe effective stormwater solutions should be affordable, adaptable, and easy to maintain. By empowering municipalities, restorationists, and homeowners with tools that fit into existing systems, we remove barriers to action and help communities care for their water without added operational burden.

Nessie changes the equation. Our system:
- Reduces the volume and flow of water exiting the basin, protecting receiving streams from erosion, infrastructure damage, and environmental harm.
- Includes switchable treatment media to remove common pollutants such as nitrogen and phosphorus, which contribute to harmful algal blooms.
- Features an integrated overflow valve to ensure flood-control performance is maintained.
The result is healthy streams, protected infrastructure, and a simple, low-maintenance retrofit that works within existing stormwater systems — providing lasting impact without disrupting normal operations.
Value Statement
By turning legacy out-of-compliance stormwater basins into proactive environmental and infrastructure protection systems, our research-backed and field tested retrofits reduce erosion, improve water quality, and safeguarding downstream stream and infrastructure like roads, bridges, and property, all with a simple, low-maintenance retrofit.
Use Cases
Municipalities, Stream Restorations, Stormwater Management Facilities
Tackle watershed erosion at its source by upgrading new and legacy detention and retention basins. By proactively managing stormwater runoff flows, Nessie reduces sediment runoff, protects infrastructure, and decreases the need for costly downstream restoration, saving both time and taxpayer dollars.
Residential, Business, Development Sector
Increase detention efficiency, mitigate erosive impacts, and preserve local streams, recreation, and water-based economy through a simple retrofit addition. In select locations, properties may also qualify for stormwater tax credit incentives, creating additional financial benefits while protecting local waterways and infrastructure.
